Looking for a solution for post-amputation pain?

Would you like to rid yourself of the issue?

Characteristics of Post-amputation Pain and its Causes

Post-amputation pain is painful sensation in the stump and phantom pain in the part of the body that was amputated.

Causes of amputation may vary, but it is always a significant change to the body.

The most common cause is lower limb ischaemia. Amputation is performed in order to reduce or stop pain, or to prevent spread of infection (gangrene) or metastases.

Pain occurs in up to a third of amputees and proves difficult to treat.

Pain in the stump may be a result of malfunctioning vascular supply, nerve irritation, etc. It is necessary to undergo specialist examination by the internal and neurological departments in order to determine diagnosis.

Phantom pain is a painful sensation in the part of the body that was amputated. The exact cause of its existence is not clear as of yet.

Post-amputation Pain Treatment – Rid yourself of the Issue

Treatment of post-amputation pain is determined on the basis of the diagnosed cause.

Stump pain is treated by means of analgesic therapy, given according to the patient’s condition. In case the pain perseveres or worsens, it usually points to a problem in the stump (e.g. infection or bleeding). It is necessary to examine the stump and determine the course of action in order to resolve the issue.

Phantom pain is treated by various procedures (drug treatment, physical methods, etc.) as the cause is not clear.

To achieve successful convalescence after amputation and the fastest possible return to normal life, rehabilitation and psychological care are essential.

3D Biomag pulsed therapy may be used as part of rehabilitation treatment. Its goal is to reduce pain, improve microcirculation and promote the healing process with phantom pain. For stump pain, the treatment aims to mitigate pain and use the vasodilating effect.

Explanation of chosen terms:

  • Amputation – removal of a peripheral part of the body from the torso either surgically or by accident.
  • Disarticulation – amputation along the line of a joint.

Patented 3D Biomag pulsed therapy. How does it work?

The basic principle of 3D Biomag magnetotherapy is generating electromagnetic pulses. The generated pulses penetrate through layers of clothing and even body tissues to the place of application. These pulses have specially developed biotropic parameters (e.g. frequency, profile, intensity), thanks to which the pulsed magnetotherapy affects various health conditions.

The term pulse magnetotherapy is most commonly used for physiotherapy using the principle of electromagnetic pulses. The abbreviation PEMF is used in order to be concise.

Patented 3D Biomag technology ensures more precise and uninterrupted pulse profiles, enhances output, and allows pulses to come from various angles. This makes it a completely new and unique medical technology on the market.

What are the benefits of therapy of post-amputation pain?

  • Helps soothe pain.
  • Has vasodilating effect.
  • Thanks to being easy to use, it can be applied at home.
  • It’s a solution with no additional medicaments.
  • It’s a non-invasive treatment.

The effects of pulsed therapy - clinical studies

Effects of pulse therapy (PEMF) on post-amputation pain are supported by many studies: for one, a clinical study by a Budapest team I. Bókkon on 15 patients. It recommends pulsed therapy (PEMF) to reduce post-amputation pain. It follows from the published text that 3D Biomag pulsed therapy can help treat these issues. More about this scientific study.

Positive effects of pulse magnetic field (PEMF) are evidenced by clinical studies by authorities on the subject and renowned institutions. The newest list of these clinical studies can be found on this page. Contact us and we will gladly help to familiarize yourself with this expert data.

Our department uses pulse magnetic field application very well. We appreciate that not only is there an option to used numbered programmes, but also to set up our own programmes. The device is small and easy to operate with good output.

University hospital Na Bulovce, Prague – Physiotherapy department

We have been utilising pulse magnetic field treatment in our spa for more than 10 years. We use Biomag devices for both physiotherapy and spa treatment. It is very advantageous to combine magnetotherapy with other physiotherapy methods because the effect of magnetotherapy potentiates with other methods (analgesic, anti-oedematous, recovery and myorelaxing).

Bělohrad Peat Spa – Lázně Bělohrad

We are happy with the device. The applicators are also easy to operate, and treatment results are satisfying. Feedback from patients is positive. Average number of applications is 50 per week.

Masaryk hospital, Jilemnice

I've been using the Biomag device for back pain in the area of the cervical spine and lumbar spine already 10 years. My wife used to use the device after foot amputation. I recommend Biomag to all my friends.

Vincet Gula, Tábor

Since I have both legs amputated and I used to have a phantom pain quite often, especially when the weather changes, and there the Biomag device helped me.
