Influence on healing of arterial and tibial ulcers

The effect on healing of arterial and tibial ulcers by a low-frequency pulsed magnetic field with a frequency of 60 Hz and an intensity of 50 mT was tested in a study (Cañedo-Dorantes et al., 2002), the results of which were published in the Archives of Medical Research.

All 26 patients with a total of 42 chronic leg ulcers were treated with low-frequency pulsed magnet therapy.

Already after two weeks, the healing effects of the pulsed magnetic field began to appear in all patients.

The results also revealed that even so, patients with autoimmune disease may experience worsening of lesions during treatment. In the end, a total of 69% of the ulcers were healed, with 50% healing within 16 weeks.

Even the ulcers remained healed for at least another 6 months and in some cases even up to 2 years.

Thus, low-frequency pulsed magnet therapy not only proved its significant efficacy and safety in the treatment of tibial ulcers, but also surprised with its long-lasting healing effects in this study .
