Making treatment of painful shoulder syndrome more effective

The effectiveness of pulsed magnet therapy in the treatment of painful shoulder syndrome was tested in 56 patients undergoing conventional rehabilitation exercises in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial (Galace de Freitas et al., 2014).

The effects of treatment in patients who underwent three-weekly applications of pulsed magnet therapy were evaluated in comparison to a control group without applications. Evaluation was performed with respect to pain relief, functional improvement and muscle strengthening. Both groups underwent muscle strengthening rehabilitation exercises and the results were compared over the next three months.

In addition, patients who underwent pulsed magnet therapy experienced improved muscle function and significant pain relief for three months . On the other hand, both groups experienced similar muscle strengthening.

Thus, the results of this study confirm that pulsed magnetic field enhances shoulder rehabilitation exercises and its effects better relieve pain and improve shoulder functionality.

Thus, pulsed magnet therapy contributes significantly to the rehabilitation of patients with painful shoulder syndrome.
