Relieving the symptoms of osteoarthritis

Relieving the symptoms of osteoarthritis in 22 patients using electromagnetic fields was the motive of a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial (Arneja, 2011) conducted at a rehabilitation facility in Winnipeg, Canada.

The main aim was to alleviate chronic back pain in patients. For the purpose of this study, they were divided into two groups, with 14 patients undergoing pulsed magnet therapy and the remaining 8 used for outcome comparison and evaluation.

The study reported significant improvements in physical health and fitness in patients affected by the effects of pulsed electromagnetic fields. Overall, there was an improvement in mobility. At the same time, a very noticeable reduction in pain was confirmed in these patients , whereas the control group deteriorated.

Pulsed magnet therapy therefore significantly reduces the symptoms of osteoarthritis, mainly due to its analgesic effect, andthus has a positive effect on the physical health and fitness of patients.
